I think it’s safe to say that these past days and days to come seem to be filled with questions and unknowns. With unknowns come fear and worry but also hope if we let that occur. Many changes are taking place and will come for us all. Many have lost their jobs, their status, savings, and loved ones. For those who believe in Christ, it is a time to trust in the sovereignty of God. Let us stand firm in the truth that God is GOOD all the time. He was good to you before COVID 19 and he will be good to you after it passes.

As I read Nehemiah 9:13-21 (Do read), God reminded me that truly I am secure in only him. His grace and love is what will sustain us all. In this passage, we are reminded that God gave his people commands and instructions to follow as they were living in a time of wondering in a desert. Our current time might feel like a desert. Many people are aimlessly moving about not knowing what to do and are frustrated because they lack clear information and instructions from leaders. But can I remind everyone, God is still giving instructions! We need to Pray, Listen, Trust and Obey him!! We should learn from the Israelites and not be stubborn and dismissive of God’s word in this time. We can be so desperate wishing to go back to the way things were like the Israelites desiring to go back to Egypt that we cannot see the good God is doing in times that still may not be easy.

In the passage, God remained faithful and merciful in that desert time. He never left them always guiding them. The pillar of cloud still led them forward by day and the pillar of fire showed them the way through the night (vs 19). God “You sent your good Spirit to instruct them, and you did not stop giving them manna from heaven or water for their thirst. For forty years you sustained them in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing. Their clothes did not wear out, and their feet did not swell!” (Vs. 20-22). God was faithful to them and he will be faithful to us too even in this time when the world explains we are heading into a recession. Those who put their trust in God will not lack. We will have food on our tables and clothes on our back. We will not wonder aimlessly but purposefully in Christ. It was never our responsibility to provide for ourselves, but to obey what God wants us to do and see him make a way. Our provision comes from him. Jesus was whispering to me, So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them (Matt. 6:31-32 NIV). The question he asks is “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” (Matt. 6:27 NIV) . The answer is NO. So exchange worry for Hope.

I challenge us all to pray and wait on God. He has been faithful before and he cannot deny himself. He must be faithful tomorrow and the day after. We need to meditate on the word of God. As Psalm 1:2-3 (NLT) states,

“But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”

Whatever the season meaning whatever is going on, we that meditate on the word and trust in God will always bear fruit! Trust in God he knows and he can cares! This is our time to pray for others, to give to those who need, to comfort those who are broken hearted. This is our time to shine and show the love of God! This is our opportunity to live out the word all the more.

I know I feel challenged! I hope you find these words uplifting.
