Seeing Is Believing, Right?
Seeing isn’t always believing, but in this one story, someone needed to come, see and believe!
Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” John 1:46-47 ESV
Things aren’t always what they seem. The poor aren’t always last. The rich aren’t always first. The brightest isn’t always the best fit. Those we exalt aren’t always the preference. God sees so much more because he sees what He has deposited in His creations! God is always looking out for those overlooked, undermined, forgotten, and those seeming not to have much.
Nathanael was questioning if His savior could really come from Nazareth! Philp asked Nathanael to come and see. It wasn’t long before Nathanael was made into a believer as Christ revealed to Nathanael just what He was capable of knowing. Nathanael was asking if anything good could come out of Nazareth, but the only one good revealed Himself to him!
