SCRIPTURE: And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:18

We probably have heard phrases like “Prayer changes things” and “a family that prays together stays together”. While we entertain and verbalize these common statements, do we live by them? How much do we commit things or people to prayer? Do we believe the prayer we make?

Truth is prayer does change things. Prayer changes our circumstances, but it also changes us. Prayer challenges our faith, sometimes making us look at our unbelief. If we search our hearts, will our prayer life reflect that we believe in a God that performs miraculous things above our comprehension or do we only ask for things that are pretty basic? Prayer is a beautiful track record of our heart’s desires. Maybe the record reflects our heart is in line with the Lord’s desires or maybe they are self centered?

Whatever may be the case, we know prayer is pretty important! God wants us to pray without ceasing. Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you 1 Thes. 5:16-18. He wants us to pray about everything (Philip. 4:6-7) continuously reminding us that he will listen and assures us He will answer. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:24

We sometimes fight coming into the presence of God resisting prayer time for whatever reasons which God knows. May our prayer be that we grow in the understanding of the power of prayer and may God grow a deeper yearning to come into his presence. May we use the weapon of prayer to make change today! So let’s pray!

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank you for teaching us how to pray, when to pray, and explaining why we should pray. Give me greater understanding, insight and a heart to pray as you did. Guide my words and help me as I grow closer to you. I want to have a powerful prayer life so I ask that you teach me your ways and give me a heart to submit to you when you call me to prayer. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

REMEMBER: The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. Psalm 145:18
