SCRIPTURE: You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ, but I have been sent before him.’ The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete. He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:28‭-‬30 ESV

What do we find joy in? The praises and attention of our family or friends? John the baptist reminds us of true friendship and honor to God.

He came and lived His life to point to God. When His disciples mentioned that people were all going to Jesus and being baptized not by them, John responded not in jealousy or in any way that took light off of Jesus! John knew the attention belonged on Christ!

Such a beautiful lesson to learn, but a truth to live out only by the grace of Jesus! May we all learn to point others to Jesus and not ourselves wherever we find ourselves! As we work onto God and not man, may we keep the attention on Jesus. May Jesus increase as we decrease!

PRAYER: Lord, It is so easy to want to shine and be recognized, but help us to remember that attention belongs on you. You deserve all the praise and I pray that my joy will be complete in seeing you glorified!

REMEMBER: He must increase, but I must decrease.
