SCRIPTURE: Then the word of the Lord came to him, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to feed you.” And she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die.” 1 Kings 17:8‭-‬9‭, ‬12 ESV

We have no idea what God is up to mostly all of the time. Hindsight we may begin to understand what the plans were, but His plans are complex and so intertwined. We may think He is just blessing us, but His plans include others being blessed. For sure, God provides for you with others in mind.

“I have commanded a widow.. ” says God. The widow had no idea she was under heavenly influence to take care of a stranger. God is so intentional, isn’t He? He will have people in place to meet our needs. These people may not even know they were sent to help you! Then on the other hand Elijah came and God blessed the women with flour and oil that never ran out until it rained. She was preparing for death, but God had other plans.

In life unless God reveals, we have no idea who is under heavenly divine influence. What we do know is that God sees those who are vulnerable and in need. He is intentional about His plans and He will always provide for His children’s needs! His plans may not make sense to us, but let’s have faith in Him. Let’s trust God’s word and act in obedience as Elijah did knowing God has our best interests at heart!

PRAYER: Dear God, help me to remember who you are and who I am. I am not all knowing but you are. I am unable to create and sustain things out of nothing, but you can. You are capable of doing amazing things. Help me to trust in who you are and your love for me! In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

REMEMBER: Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, Ephesians 3:20 ESV
